FAQs

There are many repetitive tasks that people are often faced with doing as a job. It is very often that these tasks are not value added. When cobots are used to perform these tasks, operators can be better utilized for other more meaningful tasks that can improve the process overall.

Cobots are more consistent compared to humans as they require little maintenance and do not get fatigued. When performing repetitive tasks, the quality of work can vary with a human operator depending on their condition whereas a cobot would not have the same issues.

Cobot Intelligence has a wide network of partners in different fields capable of providing custom solutions. As a former systems integrator and machine builder, we have extensive experience with both large and small scale projects where standard or custom solutions to novel problems are needed.

Yes. With a 0.05mm positional accuracy and 0.2mm vision-based accuracy, our cobots produce high quality end products with precision while having a degree of flexibility in the working environment. This level of accuracy in combination with our flexible vision system allows for a higher quality of production.

1-2 years depending on the number of shifts, operators and other costs associated to perform the task

Cobots can use a wide variety of different types of end effectors. For simple pick and place applications these types can range from kinematic or parallel jaw grippers, pneumatic or electrical driven suction-based grippers, and even magnetic grippers for metal parts. Custom end of arm tools can also be made to manipulate and handle non-conventional part types. Cobots can use a wide variety of different types of end effectors. A cobot does not require downtime to rest or charge since it is connected to a 120V power source and is rated to run for 36000 hours. If a failure does occur, the downtime of a cobot is typically no more than 24-48 hours. With the modular and simple design for the joints as well as the ease of onsite programming, cobots can not only be deployed quickly, but can also recover quickly from issues that would conventionally require extensive safety protocols and long downtimes due to the complexity of other non cobot based systems.

A single cobot can perform several jobs by utilizing common features between different parts to be handled through strategic tooling design. To manipulate extremely different parts, Cobots can also perform tool changes where necessary. With the built in vision, our cobots can also perform other tasks such as inspection and quality control all in one package.

There are many benefits of having our integrated vision system on our cobots. The built in vision allows our cobots to work without having to fixture parts at predefined locations. This allows the cobot to be more flexible and more easily deployed without the upfront costs associated with building custom fixtures for everything the robot manipulates. In addition to part location, our vision system has the capability to perform other inspection tasks such as barcode reading, colour detection, visual measurement, optical character recognition as well as an expanding set of tools related to AI functionality.

While coding is an option on our latest revision of our cobots, it is not a requirement. Our standard and simple drag and drop flow chart-based programming is not only unique but also often sought after due to the ease of programming and troubleshooting.
